Pilar College

HISTORY

The Pilar College was founded on the year 1894 by the RVM sisters during the Spanish Era. The school's foundress was Venerable Ignacia Del Espiritu Santo, she also formed a religious group called the Beaterio De La Compañia De Jesus in which she helps to spread the Good News. The Pilar College is located at R.T. Lim Boulevard. The school is considered as the oldest school in the city that was formed during the year 1894. It is still managed by the RVM sisters, headed by the current directress, S. Ma. Niña Balbas, RVM. The name "Pilar College" was taken from the title, Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar, it is the title given to the Blessed Vrgin Mary when she appeared in Zaragoza, Spain which is also a sister city of  Zamboanga City, Philippines

Pilar College still remains as one of the most prestigious RVM School in Mindanao. The various courses offered clearly signifies the school's continuing commitment to the education sector imbibing the values of the institution's foundress, Venerable Igancia del Espiritu Santo. Improvement in the school's infrustracture as well as the additional classrooms manifests the increasing population aiming for a Marian orientation. The basic and secondary education are recognized as PAASCU Accredited.
Despite the trends of time and the changes that goes with it, the school still stands where it has always been and to which proud alumni would gladly come back to.

The School's Administration

The school headed by its school Directress, S. Ma. Niña C. Balbas, RVM. Together with the RVM Sisters coming from different places in the Philippines.
                                                                               
The College Department is headed by it's respective Deans.

The High School Department is represented by it's principal, Mrs. Elnora Perez    together with her subject coordinators and the faculty.

The Grade School Department, together with it's pre-education curriculum is headed by Mrs. Nerissa Manalo and her faculty and staff.
